Recipy for apple crumble

Apple Crumble
serves 4-5

You will need:
4 or 5 large eating apples (Royal Gala or Golden Delicious are good)
1 lime
170 grams plain flour
75 grams butter plus extra butter for buttering the pie dish
75 grams sugar plus an extra tablespoon of sugar

Peel and core apples, remove all pips. Cut into pieces not too small.
Squeeze juice of lime into a saucepan, add tablespoon of sugar and apple pieces.
The lime juice will stop the apple pieces from oxidising and turning brown.

Simmer apple pieces gently for 2-3 minutes until they’re soft but not dissolved.
Remove from heat and pour into a buttered/greased ovenproof pie dish, allow apple pieces to cool. While apple pieces are cooling make crumble topping.

Cut 75 grams of butter into smaller pieces. Put in a large bowl. Add the 75 grams of sugar and 170 grams of plain flour to the butter. Mix with clean hands until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the cooled apple pieces in the pie dish.

Bake in pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until the crumble mixture has turned a golden brown colour. Serve hot or cold with ice cream, whipped cream, crème fraiche or plain yoghurt.
